I did this Blackmagic Design URSA mini 4.6K IR pollution test back in January this year. I though I’d share it with you here as well. In general, I found the Schneider True-Cut 680 IR filter works very well in blocking the infrared. I have no idea why Blackmagic Design decided not to include an IR filter with the camera. At least, there are ways to work around the issue.
The camera used in this review was the original URSA mini 4.6K. Blackmagic Design has introduced a newer model – URSA mini 4.6K Pro, which not only addresses the IR issue with a built-in IR filter and ND filters but also includes a lot more features. Although that made me feel I had bought the URSA mini 4.6K too soon, it’s a common scenario in this digital world. Some times you wait forever for a newer camera to come out; other times you purchase something not realizing a newer model is around the corner.
